Vicharchika (eczema) is a chronic skin condition characterized by dry, itchy and scaly skin lesions. This clinical trial investigated the efficacy of Rudra Taila, an Ayurvedic oil preparation, in the treatment of vicharchika.
Method
In this open-label clinical trial, 30 patients diagnosed with Vicharchika were treated over a period of 8 weeks. Patients received a topical application of Rudra Taila twice daily, accompanied by diet and lifestyle counseling according to Ayurvedic principles. The efficacy of the treatment was evaluated based on the following parameters:
Itching intensity
skin dryness
Skin rash (erythema)
Skin scaling (exfoliation)
Results
Treatment with Rudra Taila led to significant improvements in several symptoms:
Itching: 65% reduction in itching intensity after 8 weeks
Dryness: 58% reduction in skin dryness
Skin rash: 50% reduction in erythema
Scaling: 53 % reduction in skin scaling
Patients also reported a significant improvement in quality of life, particularly in terms of sleep quality and psychological well-being.
The study shows that Rudra Taila is an effective and well-tolerated Ayurvedic treatment option for vicharchika (eczema). Further studies are needed to further investigate the long-term effect and mechanism of Rudra Taila.
