All treatments are based on a holistic, medical approach. Therefore the course of the treatment can be different for each guest. However, there are basic elements that are the same for all.
The first day: The day of your arrival begins with an initial consultation and a comprehensive examination by an experienced Ayurveda doctor. In an extensive questionnaire, you provide him with additional information on whether you sleep well, for example, or whether you are happy or a believer. Your doctor uses the examination and your answers to determine your bioenergies (doshas). This determination is the basis for your therapy and diet plan.
Provided your doctor approves, your first day in Somatheeram will end with a soothing full body massage with Ayurvedic oil tailored to your needs.
The treatment plan: Until the end of your package your treatment plan provides you with orientation. It is a – mostly – pleasurable journey in which you give your body back the strength it has lost. The Purification Package focuses on treatments that detoxify your body. In doing so, our therapists rely on ayurvedic teaching. The detoxification phase ends with a special enema (Vasti). In this process undigested metabolic intermediates (Ama) are excreted. Vasti is a very valuable part of Ayurvedic therapy with a profound effect.
In the next few days, the build-up phase will take place with individual treatments designed to strengthen the body and mind. After the treatments, we recommend a period of rest so that the full effect of the treatment can unfold.
The daily consultation with the doctor is also part of the treatment schedule. In this way, our experts can ensure that you respond to the treatments and that your treatment is successful.
The relaxation exercises: Yoga, meditation and relaxation exercises for beginners and advanced practitioners are part of your treatment plan They also make a significant contribution to ensuring that you return home well rested.
The diet plan: Your Ayurveda package also includes an individual diet. As part of the initial examination, our doctors will put together a personal ayurvedic diet plan for you – according to the individual doshas. No, you can arrive and depart on any day of the week. Treatment can also be started on any day of the week.
Treatment time depends on the duration of the therapies prescribed by your doctor on any particular day. Generally the treatment time is between 90 and 120 minutes. However, on specific days, treatments can be longer or shorter in duration.
The treatments in this Ayurvedic therapy build on each other and the physical processes they trigger require time. Consequently, we recommend a minimium of 14 days. But ideally 21 days are required for the treatment to have a full and long-lasting effect.
According to Ayurvedic teaching, illnesses are essentially the result of an imbalance in the patient's doshas. The Body Purification Package aims to restore your internal balance. That is why this is suitable for treating very different symptoms. Separate treatment packages are available to strengthen the immune system, to lose weight and to improve your complexion.
Yes, the Body Purification Package is a Panchakarma treatment. However, in most cases, not all of the five "therapies" are implemented. So vomiting and phlebotomy are only advised if absolutely necessary.
